Fashion labels have always taken inspiration from Pop, culminating in increasingly more personalised and quirky designs.
And we all know that the secret of a well-executed look is to never be afraid to be bold, just like Andy Warhol did in his art, transforming the images of a simple can of soup, a banana, or the beautiful face of Marilyn Monroe into iconic images.
When we think about pop culture applied to fashion, the first brand that comes to mind in recent years is Moschino. In fact, ever since the label took on Jeremy Scott as creative director, it has become the Pop fashion brand par excellence. But you can rest assured that it’s very rare for trends and extravagant ideas not to catch on in the fashion world. The truth is, just about all of the big fashion houses have created at least one collection that celebrates Pop culture. Take Chanel with its FW15 collection, for example, when they held their fashion show in a make-believe supermarket, where every product on the shelves had a Chanel label. Then it was the turn of Fay and Lazy Oaf, followed by many others, not to mention Italy’s most famous fashion blogger, Chiara Ferragni, whose footwear collection is clearly inspired by Pop.
Today, I wanted to celebrate Pop culture too, so I went for these slip-on sneakers by Chiara Ferragni and this fabulous denim jacket by Alcott that’s completely decorated in patches, which I simply adore!
