Ever since we were little girls, we’ve always fantasised about our dream wedding dress. In fact, even though you might not want to admit it, I’m certain that even the more cynical or least romantic among you has done it too. This is certainly the dress that we worry about the most, because we know it will be remembered for the rest of our lives, so we obviously all want something unique that will make us look divine. With this is mind, I’d like to give you some advice that I hope will be useful for those of you considering that walk down the aisle – if nothing else but to help make choosing your wedding gown easier.
The first word of advice I’d give you is to think exclusively of yourself. Remember, it’s ‘your’ big day, it’s ‘your’ dress. It’s okay to ask family and friends for advice too, but don’t let their opinions cloud your decision. Do what you think will make you feel most at ease and self-assured. The second is: don’t be afraid to be daring. It’s your special day and everyone will be taking lots of pictures of you. Would you like to remember yourself as the person who made the ‘safest’, most candid choice or the person who dared to wear something really wonderful and special? JUST DO IT! Another piece of advice I’d like to give you, is don’t be afraid to use colour. I know that the traditional bridal gown is supposed to be white – and if that’s how you want it that’s absolutely fine – but you don’t have to stick to this rule if you don’t want to. There are millions of possible shades that you may not have even considered, which you might like even more than ivory – what about powder pink, baby blue, mint green and all the other possibilities? But the most important thing of all is just be yourself and you’ll look and feel absolutely stunning.
