Established by Guccio Gucci in 1921, Gucci is one of the most important fashion houses in the world. Over time his style has completely changed. In the beginning it was very inspired by the horse-riding world, focusing on leather workmanship, but as time passed the style of the fashion house evolved, transforming into the wonderland that it is today.
In 2015, Alessandro Michele became Gucci’s creative director. This extremely talented man with a passion for every form of art – from to cinema to figurative, right the way through to fashion – transformed the clothes of the fashion house into authentic masterpieces. Now the new Gucci collection is oozing with Alessandro Michele’s style, which still features the designer’s meticulous attention to detail, but also draws inspiration from the past – and art. And the social media campaign on #Guccigram is a prime example.
His clothing is never merely about putting pieces of fabric together, they are tiny paintings, stories in which you can immerse yourself and lose yourself completely. His aesthetic taste is very different to that of the previous creative director, Frida Giannini, but it’s still pertinent to the brand. And he’s managed to transform it into an authentic wonderland, where you can’t help but be wonderstruck and fall in love over and over again.
